Tuesday

Nothing really exciting today but I promised a post every weekday.

Started with a good PT session with Steve. That guy has some knowledge AND endurance. He wore us out with some circuit training and then finished us off with a drill called 22s. If you know what that is, you know we messed it up a lot and had to do it 10-15 times before getting it semi-right.

After that was a presentation by an agent who specializes in civil rights investigation. It was an interesting presentation and I was glad to get the info.

Tomorrow is another challenge day. This one is supposed to be a hard one so I am off to bed!

Monday: Start of week 4!

We are into week #4! The time is flying by and we are all learning a lot. Today was a busy day of classes with 4 straight classes. That was tough considering most of us spent the weekend in New York and didn’t get a rest day.

The classes l went well though. During my essentials for law enforcement leaders class, we discussed the results of our DISC test which tries to predict your leadership style. I was marked as a “high D” which means dominant. That wasn’t a major surprise for me. If you have never taken the test before you can google it. It’s fairly short and tells you about yourself.

During my next class we had a fire drill. That took me back to high school days! After classes today I had plenty of work to do on some assignments.

The last photo is on of my roommate Louis. I caught him messing around with his phone on a break and snapped a photo.

All in all a good but busy day. Hitting the bed! PT first thing in the morning. I am a Hight D according to the test. Fire DrillLouis!

New York City weekend

This weekend was the opportunity for Session 270 to go to New York City for the weekend. The trip is planned by the NYPD Officers in the session. We all had an amazing time and learned a lot from the NYPD. The majority of the session made the trip. We saw all of the best of NYC. I’ll only post a few photos since I am doing this on my phone on the bus ride back. Just know that if you are in a future NA session, you don’t want to miss the trip.

We stayed in Manhattan just down the street from Time Square. Walking around the city was wonderful but helped me realize that policing in NYC is very different than back home. I watched in disbelief as we walked faster than a NYPD cruiser on a code 3 run could drive down 42nd Avenue. We made 3 blocks and were still ahead of them.

The big highlights of the trip were the visit to the special operations division, the NYPD/ FDNY boat tour of the harbor and the trip to One World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial and museum. I took so many more photos but can’t share them all.

Now we are headed back to get ready for week 4!

Thursday

Pretty easy day today. Spent the day in a few classes. Two of my classes covered social media which is my passion. Can’t complain about that! Between classes we all spent some time writing an online post covering the last 4 speakers we have heard. It was a chance for some down time really.

I spent some of that time getting laundry caught up since we will be in New York all weekend.

I put the short video in to show you the elevator problems we deal with. It’s not uncommon for one of our two elevators to be broken. 225 people on 7 floors using 1 elevator. No problem right?
